The Uttar Pradesh Education Services Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has issued a clarification on the reservation process for 17,735 Assistant Teacher posts advertised on October 23, 2026. The commission has stated that reservation will be calculated separately for each school and not on the total number of vacancies across all schools. The clarification, dated October 27, comes after misleading claims about the reservation process circulated on social media and other platforms. The commission has asked candidates and the public not to believe or share unverified information.

How will reservation be calculated?

According to the commission, the Directorate of Secondary Education provided school-wise vacancy details for non-government aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. The information includes the subject, school and category-wise vacancies, along with reservation details. Each non-government aided secondary school will be treated as a separate unit for recruitment purposes. The management of the respective school will be responsible for appointing teachers. This means reservation will be determined according to the applicable rules and the number of vacancies available in each school. Vacancies across different schools will not be combined to calculate reservation.

Commission warns against misleading claims

The commission issued the clarification after claims about the reservation process began circulating on social media and other platforms. The state government has also shared a clarification through its official social media handle, E-Gyan Ganga-U.P., the commission said.Candidates applying for the 17,735 Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) vacancies have been advised to rely on official recruitment notices for accurate information.
