Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ is heading towards its theatrical release with strong business already locked in across different revenue streams. The film has reportedly recorded a Rs 200 crore-plus pre-release valuation, helped by Suriya’s improved market following the success of ‘Karuppu.‘ However, with the release date approaching, attention has now shifted to its advance bookings and whether the film can convert its strong pre-release business into a successful theatrical run.
‘Vishwanath And Sons’ advance booking
The early ticket sales for ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ have reportedly started on a moderate note in Tamil Nadu. According to Sacnilk, the film has so far recorded around Rs 7.23 crore in Tamil Nadu advance bookings. While the number is not a major concern at this stage, expectations were higher considering Suriya’s recent success with ‘Karuppu,’ which reportedly crossed the Rs 300 crore mark worldwide. The response during the final hours could play a key role in determining the opening-day occupancy.
‘Vishwanath And Sons’ theatrical business needs strong box office run
The reported pre-release business of ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ is estimated at around Rs 215 crore, including theatrical and non-theatrical rights. According to Sacnilk, Tamil Nadu theatrical rights are said to be worth Rs 45 crore, while the Telugu states have contributed around Rs 20 crore. Karnataka is reportedly valued at Rs 5 crore, with the rest of India at another Rs 5 crore and overseas theatrical rights at around Rs 15 crore. This takes the total theatrical business to approximately Rs 90 crore. Non-theatrical rights, including OTT, satellite and music, are reportedly valued at Rs 125 crore. With this valuation, the film needs to achieve around Rs 175 crore worldwide gross for its theatrical side to emerge as a clean hit.
Suriya and Mamitha Baiju lead Venky Atluri ’s film
The availability of screens and competition from other releases could also influence the film’s opening. If advance bookings gather pace, exhibitors may increase shows in major centres. Directed by Venky Atluri, ‘Vishwanath And Sons’ stars Suriya alongside Mamitha Baiju, with Radhika and other prominent actors in key roles. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music. The film is expected to focus on family relationships, emotions and entertainment rather than relying entirely on action.Scheduled to release on August 14, the film’s audience response and word of mouth will ultimately determine whether Suriya’s latest outing can cross its sizeable theatrical target.
