A Missouri substitute teacher says she lost her job after the staffing company that placed her in schools discovered that she had been running an OnlyFans account for more than two years.Sheena Sittner, who worked as a substitute teacher in the St Louis County area, said she had continued teaching while maintaining the account and knew there was always a possibility that her online activity could eventually be discovered.“I’ve had this account, this OnlyFans account, for two-plus years,” Sittner said, according to KTVI. She added that whoever discovered it must have gone looking for it because the account had existed for years.Sittner said she was surprised not only by the employment consequences but also by an instruction from Kelly Education, the company that hired her, telling her not to contact any school or school district.According to emails shared by Sittner, she was suspended pending termination and was told: “Please refrain from contacting any school or districts.”The warning became particularly significant for Sittner because her child attends a school in the district. She said she could deal with losing her job and facing criticism, but objected to the possibility of being prevented from participating in her child’s education.“My personal life is completely separate from my professional life. I have kept those two separate forever,” Sittner said.
School district clarifies teacher can remain involved as parent
The school district later clarified that Sittner could participate in her child’s school life like any other parent.A district spokesman said she had passed a background check and completed the required online safety training and therefore could volunteer and participate in school activities.Kelly Education also clarified that its instruction applied only to Sittner’s professional role. The company said it did not and could not restrict her rights as a parent or prevent her from participating in her child’s education.Sittner said she had turned to adult content creation partly because of financial pressures and argued that better teacher pay could reduce the need for educators to seek additional sources of income.“If teachers were paid better, women wouldn’t have to resort to online content creation,” she said. “Sex sells.”
Missouri has seen similar OnlyFans controversies
Sittner’s case comes after other Missouri educators faced employment consequences after their OnlyFans activities became public.In 2023, St Clair High School English teacher Brianna Coppage resigned after administrators discovered her OnlyFans account. Coppage had said she was earning about $42,000 as a teacher and had started creating adult content to supplement her income.The issue later followed Coppage into another job. In March 2024, she was fired from a healthcare position after working there for five days. The company said she had violated its social-media policy, although Coppage said she was not given a detailed explanation of how she had violated the policy.Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education says substitute teachers must meet state certification requirements, including background clearance for new certificates or new hires. The state has separate certification routes for classroom substitutes.
