The ongoing developments surrounding Ranveer Singh and ‘Don 3’ continue to create discussion in the film industry. What initially appeared to be a casting-related issue has now evolved into a larger controversy. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now shared his views on the matter. The director publicly extended support to Ranveer Singh and strongly criticised the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) for its recent move against the actor.
Ram Gopal Varma reacts to FWICE decision
Ram Gopal Varma took to X and posted a lengthy note. The filmmaker questioned FWICE’s authority and expressed disagreement with its decision to issue a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. RGV also suggested that such actions may not carry long-term significance. He further argued that the organisation was attempting to maintain its influence during changing industry dynamics.“FWICE is neither a court of legal justice nor a government-authorised regulatory body, and at best it’s a kangaroo court, which by definition pretends to deliver justice, but in actual fact it disregards established legal rule, due process and impartiality. That is because the verdict is often decided in advance by a group of a specific agenda oriented people meeting privately including actors who are scared shitless with the mega success of @RanveerOfficial in Dhurandhar,” RGV wrote.
Ram Gopal Varma speaks about Ranveer Singh’s position
The filmmaker also shared his opinion regarding Ranveer Singh’s standing within the industry. According to Varma, the issue should ideally remain between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar, and should not have become a wider industry debate. He also stated that the actor continues to have strong market value and support within the industry. “Here we arrive at the main point that everyone in their heart knows including the disputing company, and for that matter even FWICE , that If @RanveerOfficial simply nods a yes , there will be a one kilometre long queue of producers outside his house tomorrow morning with cheques ready,” he wrote.
RGV highlights the role of stars in the industry
Continuing his remarks, Ram Gopal Varma also discussed the role of actors in sustaining the film industry and creating opportunities. “It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who sell tickets at the theatres and not FWICE. It is stars like @RanveerOfficial who create employment to those lakhs of FWICE workers and not FWICE. It is only because stars like @RanveerOfficial exist , that the industry exists , and also the FWICE exists. So in a summation , here is my unsolicited advise to all concerned Let’s not poke our unwanted noses into a civil dispute between 2 parties
