Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, is taking the legal route to officially drop her father’s surname.The star-kid, who tured 18-year-old this year, reportedly published a court-ordered notice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal as part of the legal process to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, as per court documents obtained by Page Six.

The report goes on to state that Vivienne published the notice once a week for four weeks, beween July 24 to August 14.As per legal proceedings, the newspaper notice also invites anyone who wishes to oppose the proposed name change to submit a written objection ahead of the final hearing, scheduled for November 2, when a judge is expected to consider the petition.
Vivienne follows siblings Zahara and Maddox
The move comes after Vivienne’s siblings, – sister Zahara, brother Maddox – also reportedly published notices as part of the name-change petitions. As per reports, the newspaper notice is a standard part of California’s legal name-change process and is intended to give members of the public an opportunity to object to the petition.Much before Vivienne, Zahara and Maddox also filed documents to remove their father’s surname. While Zahara has secured a September 28, court hearing, Maddox’s next hearing has not been publicly disclosed.
Shiloh first of six Jolie-Pitt kids to drop ‘Pitt’ surname
Shiloh was the first of the siblings to formally remove “Pitt” from her name. She also went the legal route to officially drop the ‘Pitt’ surname. She has since, changed her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, a name she has been using since May 2024.At the time, Entertainment Tonight reported that she had hired and paid for her own lawyer to get her paperwork done.

Vivienne has also been using only the “Jolie” surname professionally. She was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the playbill for the 2024 Broadway production of ‘The Outsiders’, which she worked on alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie.

The name changes come amid the long-running estrangement between Brad and his children, following his 2016 separation and ultimate divorce from Jolie. As per TMZ, a source close to Brad told the portal that they believe Angelina caused the rift between the actor and his children, adding, “This is alienation the sequel, same script, same sad story.”Anyone opposing the name change is asked to submit a written opposition before the final hearing on November 2. A judge can then approve the request if there is no objection.
