Assam floods leave over 1.55 lakh people affected
Samay Raina’s donation comes at a time when Assam is witnessing a severe flood situation. According to PTI, more than 1.55 lakh people remained affected by the floods, while the toll from this year’s deluge had reached 98.As many as 1,55,849 people were reportedly affected across the state. Golaghat emerged as the worst-hit district, with 58,750 people affected, followed by Sivasagar and Jorhat. The number of people affected had crossed 1.68 lakh across 15 districts on Thursday.With several communities continuing to deal with displacement and the loss of homes and livelihoods, relief funds and donations have become crucial to ongoing rescue, rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
Bhumi Pednekar and Randeep Hooda also participate in Assam relief efforts
Samay’s contribution comes shortly after actors Bhumi Pednekar and Randeep Hooda travelled to Assam to participate in relief efforts for people affected by the floods.While the actors chose to be involved on the ground, Samay has extended financial assistance through the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.The comedian’s donation has also drawn attention because of his previous public controversy with the Assam government.
