Janhvi Kapoor says the conversation around alcohol addiction is absent or just deeply judgmental

Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently addressed the serious issue of alcohol addiction while supporting an initiative aimed at changing how society perceives and discusses it. Speaking at the launch of a recent initiative launched for alcohol addiction awareness, Janhvi spoke about the stigma and silence toward a more informed, compassionate understanding. She also spoke about mental health being attached to it and how one needs care to get rid of this addiction. Janhvi said that as alcohol consumption becomes increasingly normalised in social settings, there remains a lack of clarity about when casual drinking crosses into a clinical problem. She said at the launch of this initiative called ‘Off The Rocks’, “The conversation around alcohol is either completely absent or deeply judgmental, and neither serves the people who actually need support. Alcohol addiction is real, it’s clinical, and it affects people across every walk of life. The initiative is about making it easier to acknowledge that, and to know that help exists.” She also stressed that addiction is often wrongly viewed as a moral weakness rather than a mental health condition that requires proper treatment and intervention.
