Dhurandhar Movie Release Date: Ranveer Singh‘s spy thriller Dhurandhar is all set to release on December 5. The film’s trailer and songs have already created huge buzz on social media. While the Aditya Dhar directorial is anticipated for its stellar starcast, at the film’s trailer launch event in Mumbai last month, Aditya had said that Dhurandhar is India’s moment at the world stage. While the film recently got clearance from the CBFC, Ranveer Singh’s film is said to be the longest one in 17 years.
Dhurandhar’s journey has not been an easy one. While the film’s shoot has been challenging, the spy thriller also faced some objections with its release. Major Mohit Sharma’s family legally challenged Dhurandhar’s release, claiming that the film was based on the decorated Army officer’s life, but due acknowledgment wasn’t given. While the Delhi HC ordered the CBFC to consider the objections raised by Major Mohit Sharma’s parents, the certification body has now given the film a go ahead. Major Sharma was killed in 2009 while he was conducting operations against the terrorist groups in the Kashmir Valley.
Dhurandhar synopsis
As per CBFC, this is Dhurandhar synopsis: “Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who crafts a daring and indomitable mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. To execute this high-risk operation, Sanyal recruits an unlikely asset — a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for committing a revenge-driven crime. Recognising the boy’s potential and raw intensity, Sanyal decides to mould him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi’s ruthless underworld mafia.”
Dhurandhar certification and runtime
After due diligence, the CBFC has given Ranveer’s film an A certification, and a few scenes depicting violence have been replaced, and a cuss word has been muted. A few warnings have also been added to the film. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the film’s total runtime is 3 hours 34 minutes (214 minutes), making Dhurandhar the longest Bollywood film in the last 17 years. Dhurandhar is also Ranveer Singh’s first-ever ‘A’ rated film.
The makers have been directed to remove a few visuals from the beginning as well as the second half of the film, and also asked them to replace more appropriate shots depicting violence. The name of a character seen playing a minister has also been asked to change. A few abusive words have been muted, and the team has been directed to add some anti-drug warnings.
Dhurandhar movie budget ticket price
As per several media reports, Dhurandhar has been made on a whopping budget of Rs 280 crores. A report in NDTV states, that the production cost for the film has been Rs 250 crores, while another Rs 30 crores have been spent on the necessary permissions and marketing of the film. The ticket prices for the film have also seen a surge following the film’s booking seen a strong start.
While the film’s ticket prices for 2D range between Rs 350-450, ticket prices for IMAX 2D are priced between Rs 470-520 in Delhi NCR. The film prices are higher than usual with premium theatres demanding between Rs 1800-2400 per ticket.
Dhurandhar movie advance booking report
According to reports in Sacnilk, on Wednesday, as of 10:40 am, Dhurandhar has collected Rs 2.07 crores through advance books. With block bookings included, the film’s total adds up to Rs 3.69 crores. So far, 45635 tickets have been sold out. In terms of advance booking collections, Delhi NCR is seen clocking in the highest numbers. Dhurandhar is said to have made a record-breaking opening at the box office post the pandemic.
Dhurandhar movie box office collection prediction day 1
With the advance bookings kickstarting on such a thunderous note, a Sacnilk report suggests that Dhurandhar is predicted to collect over Rs 15 to 20 crores on its day 1. With the buzz around the film only getting stronger and more tickets being sold, the numbers are projected to go upwards. A report in Pinkvilla also suggests that Dhurandhar will open to a box office collection between Rs 13-17 crores on its first day. The film is also predicted to be Ranveer Singh’s highest box office opener.
Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by B62 Productions and Jio Studios, Dhurandhar is releasing on 5th December. Other than Ranveer Singh, the film also stars Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna, and Rakesh Bedi in important roles.
