Daryl Mitchell has climbed to the summit of the men’s ODI batting rankings, overtaking Virat Kohli after a sensational series against India that powered New Zealand to a 2–1 victory.

Mitchell’s back-to-back centuries in the series proved decisive, earning him 845 rating points and lifting him to No. 1 in the rankings. Kohli, who now has 795 points, slips to second place. The two are well ahead of the rest of the field, which includes Ibrahim Zadran, Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Babar Azam.
This is the second time Mitchell has reached the top of the ODI rankings. His previous stay at No. 1 was brief, lasting just three days last November before Rohit Sharma moved past him. Mitchell’s rise has been fuelled by a remarkable run of form. He now has four ODI centuries against India, placing him just one behind AB de Villiers in the list of South African batters with the most ODI hundreds versus India. His two successive scores of over 130 also see him draw level with Martin Guptill for the most 130-plus scores by a New Zealand batter in ODI history, with four. Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran has climbed to third in the ODI batting rankings with 764 points, moving ahead of former India captain Rohit Sharma, who drops to fourth with 757 points. Mitchell and Kohli remain firmly out in front. The decisive match in Indore also had a major impact on the rankings. Mitchell and Glenn Phillips stitched together a 219-run partnership, the second-highest ODI stand for New Zealand. Phillips scored 106 off 88 balls, a knock that lifted him 16 places to 20th in the ODI batting rankings. Phillips also made gains in the all-rounders’ list, climbing 14 spots to joint 31st. Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai continues to hold the top position among ODI all-rounders.
ICC men’s ODI bowling rankings
In the bowling charts, New Zealand’s Michael Bracewell enjoyed a notable rise, moving up six places to 33rd following his performances in the first two matches of the India series. At the top of the ODI bowling rankings, there is no change. Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan remains No. 1 with 710 points, followed by England fast bowler Jofra Archer on 670. Rashid has also made progress in the T20I rankings, climbing two places to second among bowlers after taking two wickets in Afghanistan’s opening series match against West Indies in Dubai. His teammate Mujeeb Ur Rahman has moved up two spots to joint 14th on the same list, while Ibrahim Zadran has advanced five places to reach 15th in the latest T20I batting rankings.
