Chris Pratt opens up about his latest film, ‘Mercy’

While talking to BBC News, Pratt opened up about what it was like for him to film something like ‘Mercy.’ He recalled that it was a completely new experience for him. He further added that, “I’m always eager to try new things, to be challenged in different ways, and maybe give audiences something they might not expect from me.”This prompted the actor to try out the chair for real, and even get strapped in for the extra added effect. He shared that he had to specially request director Timur Bekmambetov to strap him in the chair. “I thought this would help lend itself to the performance, and feelings of claustrophobia and being trapped. I was sweating, so if my face itched, I couldn’t scratch it, and I couldn’t get up,” he further added.

Premise of ‘Mercy’

The story is set in the future, where AI has evolved to the point where it has been properly ingrained in everyone’s everyday lives and jobs. This also includes the legal justice system. The story centers on Raven, a drunkard detective, who, one fine day, finds himself strapped to the criminal chairs, sitting in front of an AI judge. With only 90 minutes to prove that he didn’t kill his wife, while also dealing with a hangover and not remembering what happened in the first place, there is a lot on the line. ‘Mercy’ stars Rebecca Ferguson, Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers, alongside Chris Pratt, and is all set to be released on January 23.
