Noah Wyle’s quiet life away in his 1999 ranch

During his interview with Cowboys and Indians in 2019, Wyle opened up about how, while he enjoys the glamour that comes with being one of the biggest stars in the industry right now, he has always been a “somebody” and has invested quite a bit to ensure that his 1999 ranch becomes his safe haven. He further shared, “And I have a place up in Santa Ynez, California that’s sort of my go-to sanctuary,” calling it the “Laboratory. Oasis.” He added, “I needed to be geographically close to Los Angeles just for practical purposes, but I didn’t want to raise my kids in Los Angeles. I was raised in Los Angeles. I’m an Angeleno, and I just wanted something a little bit more rural and smaller and slower than city life for my kids. Two hours was about as far as I could drive after work on a Friday night when I was doing ER and not fall asleep at the wheel. That kind of radius brought me up to the Santa Ynez Valley.”He also detailed during the interview that he did not put much effort into finding the property, and instead, the property ‘found him.’ Describing the experience in more detail, Wyle added, “Once I came down that Highway 154 hill and saw Lake Cachuma and the valley spread out before me, it looked just like Tuscany to me. Then I found this property that just spoke to me.”

Noah Wyle needed to have an anchoring home base

The actor had further shared during the interview that one of the most important things in his life was to have an anchoring home base. He also commented on how he had bought the property at a time when he did not have the time, money, or understanding of how to manage the 80-acre land; it is still one of the best decisions that he has made so far in his life.He added, “And to be able to come back here and recharge my battery and lock my gate and be with my family and enjoy the animals and the things this valley has to offer, the happier I am, and then I can leave again.”

Noah Wyle and his menagerie of pets

One of the most important aspects of living on the property comes from the menagerie of animals that he and his family have on the land. “It’s still a lot of animals. We’re not acquiring as many animals as we used to, but if I hear a good hard-luck case or a good sob story about an animal in need, I’m still a soft touch, and everybody knows it,” he shared. Wyle has all kinds of animals on his ranch, including his three dogs, as well as cats, pigs, chickens, a rescue steer, and horses. He concluded that “Ranch life is about life cycles.” You see things get born, you care for them, and then you bury them. And it goes over and over again.”

How Noah Wyle spends his day off at his home

During his latest interview with PEOPLE, the beloved ‘The Pitt’ star gave fans an update about his everyday life on the ranch. While he does not get many days off, he spends almost all of them within the comfort of his home that he has spent years building up. As for his daily routine, he shared, “I make breakfast at the house. I usually make breakfast for my wife and my daughter. Three dogs. I have a little kind of daily practice, journal practice, and gratitude practice I try to do every day. I try to exercise a little bit every day, take the dogs for a walk, at least, and try to read a little bit every day. Try not to scroll too much on my phone.”
