Ajay Devgn’s upcoming horror thriller, directed by Rohit Jugraj, has reportedly received its official title. While the project was earlier being referred to as ‘Griha Pravesh’, a new report claims that the film has now been titled Surya Prakash. The supernatural thriller is said to explore a mysterious and morally complex world, with Devgn playing a character unlike his recent screen outings.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the film’s official title is Surya Prakash. The project is reportedly built around a high-concept supernatural premise, with Devgn playing a morally ambiguous character. The narrative is said to draw inspiration from the Garuda Purana, the ancient Sanskrit text traditionally presented as a conversation between Lord Vishnu and Garuda, the King of Birds. The reported title Surya Prakash adds another layer of intrigue to a story that is expected to combine horror, mystery and suspense.
‘Surya Prakash’ goes on floors
Production on the film began on September 2 and is expected to continue until November. The makers are reportedly targeting a theatrical release in the second half of 2027. The film is being backed by Panorama Studios’ Kumar Mangat and Abhishek Pathak in collaboration with Devgn Films. The partnership has previously resulted in projects including ‘Drishyam’, ‘Raid’ and ‘Shaitaan’. The production houses are currently gearing up for ‘Drishyam: The Conclusion’, which marks the latest chapter in the popular thriller franchise and is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2.

Rohit Jugraj is directing ‘Surya Prakash’. The filmmaker has a longstanding association with the horror genre, having begun his career as an assistant director under Ram Gopal Varma on Ajay Devgn-starrer Bhoot in 2003. Jugraj subsequently directed the ‘Sardaarji’ films and has also worked on streaming projects such as ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein’ and ‘Chamak’. His collaboration with Devgn on Surya Prakash marks another exploration of the supernatural space, this time through a mystery-driven narrative.
Producer Abhishek Pathak on the film’s suspenseful world
Producer Abhishek Pathak had earlier spoken about the film’s tone and the creative collaboration in a statement issued around its announcement.“Its suspense comes not from spectacle, but from the questions it raises and the unease it quietly builds,” he said.Pathak also highlighted Devgn’s involvement both in front of and behind the camera, adding, “With Ajay Devgn as actor and producer, the project gained an added creative dimension, while Rohit Jugraj was the right filmmaker to bring this haunting material to life. I’m delighted that Panorama Studios is backing this film and continuing our association with Devgn Films.”
