For the past couple of days, Macklemore has been making headlines after reports revealed that he had been removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour as one of the supporting acts. Following the backlash, Ed Sheeran himself issued a statement about the matter; however, the wave has not calmed down yet. Multiple celebrities like Kehlani, Hannah Einbinder, and more from the industry have reached out online in support of Macklemore, while all of Ed Sheeran’s supporting acts from his ongoing tour have cancelled their appearances.

Multiple celebrities rally for Macklemore after he’s dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour

After Macklemore alleged that he was dropped from Ed Sheeran’s tour because of his comments in support of Palestine, the ‘Shape of You’ singer started facing a lot of backlash online. Not only that, but all of Sheeran’s supporting acts, including Finneas (Billie Eilish’s brother), Danish band Lukas Graham, Irish songwriter Aaron Rowe, and Irish backing band Beoga, have all publicly stood with Macklemore and dropped out of the tour of their own accord.Many celebrities have also posted about the matter, supporting Macklemore, which also includes ‘Hacks’ star Hannah Einbinder. She took to her Instagram stories and posted, “Ed Sheeran, I say this as a ginger. I hope you get a REALLY bad sunburn, the kind on the back of your entire body where it hurts to lie down or walk or sit.” Later, she quoted a poem titled ‘Apolitical Intellectuals’ by Guatemalan activist Otto René Castillo and reshared posts from all of Sheeran’s supporting acts from his ‘Loop’ tour who dropped out.R&B singer Kehlani also lent her support for the ‘Thrift Shop’ singer and replied in a supportive comment under his initial post. She wrote, “A LOT of the venues/owners are rallied together this way. Honoured to know you, brother. Adore you. Behind you!!!!” F1 driver Lewis Hamilton also wrote under his post: “Thank you for using your voice, standing with you.”Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters took to his account and posted a video condemning Ed Sheeran after Macklemore shared his statement online. In the video, he said, “This is a little message for Ed Sheeran. There are two kinds of people in this world, Ed. There are people who do the right thing. That rapper Macklemore would be one of those people, and there are people, many of them, sadly, little… excuse me, I nearly used the F-word then—[people] like you, who do the wrong thing.More celebrities, such as Zara Larsson, Greta Thunberg, Rachel Chinouriri, Bob Dylan, and Kneecap, to name a few, commented on Macklemore’s post. Others included Penélope Cruz, Amanda Seyfried, Rachel Zegler, Florence Pugh, Cara Delevingne, Chase Infiniti, Bella Hadid, and Hozier, all of whom liked his post to show solidarity with the musician.
