The actor, who has been enjoying the success of ‘Awarapan 2’, reportedly underwent testing after feeling unwell for several days, with his results returning positive. Doctors have advised him to rest and take basic precautions. The development comes as Hashmi remains in the spotlight following the strong theatrical performance of ‘Awarapan 2’. The actor also recently announced that he would be unable to attend a scheduled performance in Bengaluru because of his health, while assuring fans that the event would be rescheduled.

After returning, the actor reportedly continued to feel unwell for a few days, prompting him to undergo a medical test. The results confirmed that he had contracted swine flu, according to India Today. The actor has not issued a separate public statement confirming the diagnosis. However, he informed fans through Instagram Stories that he was unwell and would have to miss his scheduled Bengaluru appearance.

Hashmi was scheduled to perform at a Bollywood-themed event in Bengaluru. Addressing fans, the actor announced that the show would be postponed because of his illness.“Hey Bangalore, I’m really unwell and unfortunately won’t be able to make it to the Bangalore show. But picture khatam nahi hua, bas postpone hua hai! I’ll see you all at Sunburn Union on 12th September, Saturday. Your tickets will remain valid for the new date. Can’t wait to see you guys!” he wrote.The rescheduled performance is now set to take place on September 12, with previously purchased tickets remaining valid for the new date. The postponement comes shortly after reports about Hashmi’s return to the stage after nearly two decades. According to Mid-Day, the actor was set to headline two Bollywood-themed gigs, one in Bengaluru and another in Hyderabad. The report claimed that Hashmi had charged Rs. 2 crore for the appearances. The Bengaluru event, titled The Emraan Era, was expected to feature the actor revisiting songs from films such as Murder, Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Jannat, while his Hyderabad appearance was planned as a shorter stage outing alongside DJ Ganesh.

Hashmi’s health setback comes at a particularly successful phase of his career. Awarapan 2, the sequel to his 2007 cult film, has emerged as a major theatrical success, crossing the Rs. 200 crore milestone at the box office. The actor had recently made a surprise appearance at a Mumbai screening of the film with co-star Disha Patani. The duo interacted with moviegoers during the interval and discussed the audience response to the sequel.Speaking to the crowd, Hashmi said, “This is a film which belongs to fans more than the makers isiliye hum wapis aaye abhi, this journey we made more thrilling with more action and more emotions.”He also teased audiences about the film’s second half and hinted at the possibility of another sequel. When a fan predicted that the film would become a super-hit, Hashmi responded, “Movie baaki hai, second half better hai.” He later added, “Hopefully, Awarapan 3 very soon.”
What is ‘Awarapan 2’ about?
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Films, ‘Awarapan 2’ brings Hashmi back as Shivam Pandit. The story follows Shivam after he is approached by an Interpol officer to assist in a mission involving children who have been abducted. The action thriller revolves around themes of child trafficking, revenge and redemption. Disha Patani plays Zara, while Shabana Azmi features as gangster queen Nafisa. Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Puran Gabbi are also part of the supporting cast.
