Jaafar Jackson’s debut film on his uncle, the legendary Michael Jackson, was a massive hit worldwide. Collecting USD 1.001 billion at the box office, the movie reached unexpected heights of success, with fans already buzzing with excitement for the sequel. Now, according to new updates shared online, the second film is already underway! Here is what we know so far about the upcoming film, ‘Michael 2’.

‘Michael 2’ to start filming soon

Work on the second installment of Michael Jackson’s biopic is already underway, with the production company planning to start filming by the end of the year. Variety reported that the company is all set and ready to work on the project soon following the success of the first film, which was released earlier this year in April. The announcement was made during the company’s latest earnings call, which was held on Thursday. The company’s motion picture chief Adam Fogelson also shared during the call that they are planning on starting the production soon and are aiming for a release by the end of 2027. This release date may also be pushed to early 2028; however, nothing has been officially confirmed right now. The sequel film was already expected by many as the first film ended with a flashcard that read, “His Story Continues.”The first film was earlier supposed to cover the multiple abuse and molestation accusations that Jackson underwent; however, due to a clause in a settlement with one of the accusers, the parts were completely omitted from the movie. However, according to Fogelson’s latest statement, some of the parts that were planned for the first film may be included in the sequel. He shared, “We are mostly focused right now on how to make sure we can deliver, at the right price, the biggest, best sequel. That is what the audience is going to want and deserve after the experience we gave them the first time.”During the call, the company also reported that it narrowed its losses because of the success of two of its biggest films that were released recently. ‘Michael’, which crossed USD 1 billion in box office numbers alone, and ‘The Housemaid’ starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney, which collected USD 400.5 million worldwide.
