The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced post-result facilities for Class 10 students who appeared in the Main Board Examination and the Second Board Examination in 2026.For context, CBSE had declared the Class 10 Main exam result on April 15, 2026, and the Second Board exam result on July 18, 2026. Now, students who wish to check their evaluated answer sheets or challenge their marks can do so through a three-step online process.
What facilities are being offered?
CBSE is giving students three options:
- Scanned copy of the answer sheet – so students can see exactly how their paper was checked
- Verification of marks – a check to confirm all questions were marked and totalled correctly
- Re-evaluation – a fresh check of one or more full questions, if a student feels the marking was wrong
Importantly, a student cannot directly apply for verification or re-evaluation. They must first get the scanned copy of their answer sheet. Only after seeing it can they decide whether something needs to be rechecked.
Rules for students who took only the Main exam
If a student appeared only in the Main Board Examination, the process is simple:
- First, apply for the scanned copy of the answer sheet for any subject.
- After going through it, apply for marks verification and/or re-evaluation for that same subject.
Rules for students who took both Main and Second exams
This is where it gets a bit more detailed. If a student appeared in both exams for the same subject:
- They can get scanned copies of both answer sheets — Main as well as Second exam — if they want.
- But when it comes to verification or re-evaluation, they must choose only one answer sheet, either the Main exam paper or the Second exam paper, not both.
- Once that choice is made, the other answer sheet cannot be used for verification or re-evaluation in that subject.
If a subject was taken only in the Main exam, the same simple rule from above applies.
Important dates and fees
Step 1: Getting the scanned copy
- Apply between August 5, 2026 (Wednesday) and August 9, 2026 (Sunday)
- Fee: Rs. 300 per subject
Step 2: Verification of marks and/or re-evaluation
- Apply between August 16, 2026 (Sunday) and August 19, 2026 (Wednesday)
- Fee: Rs. 300 per answer sheet for verification
- Fee: Rs. 100 per question (including all sub-questions) for re-evaluation
All applications and payments must be made online only, through UPI, credit card, debit card or net banking. CBSE will not accept applications through post, demand draft, money order, cheque or cash. No application will be accepted after the deadline or outside the online system.Other things students should know:
- Only one application per step is allowed. Students must decide in advance whether they want to apply for one subject or several, since a second chance will not be given.
- Marks can go up, stay the same, or go down — even by one mark — as a result of verification or re-evaluation. Students should be aware of this risk before applying.
- If marks do change after verification or re-evaluation, students will have to surrender their old Mark Statement cum Certificate and will be issued a new one.
- If marks increase after the process, the fee paid will be refunded to the same account it was paid from.
- The outcome will be updated in the student’s login account itself. CBSE will not send any individual message or letter about the result of verification or re-evaluation, so students need to keep checking their account.
- Once the result of verification or re-evaluation is out, it is final. There is no option to appeal or ask for a further review.
- Re-evaluation is only done for a complete question, not for a portion of it, and only for the theory part of the exam.
CBSE has specifically asked students and parents not to trust rumours or unverified posts on social media regarding results. The board has said that all correct and updated information will only be shared through its official channels. Students needing help can reach out to CBSE headquarters, regional offices, or the CBSE helpline.The board also clarified that answer sheets can be obtained under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005, but requests for re-evaluation or complaints about marking cannot be made under RTI — these have to go through the process described above.Read the official notice here.
