The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has provided additional time to aspiring learners by extending the deadline for fresh admissions to the July 2026 academic session. Eligible candidates can now submit their applications until July 31, 2026, for programmes offered through both the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online learning modes.The extension offers another opportunity to students and working professionals who were unable to complete the admission process within the earlier deadline.
Registration open for ODL and online courses
According to the university’s latest announcement, candidates seeking admission to Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes must complete their registration through the official ODL admission portal. Prospective applicants can make their applications via the online admission portal meant specifically for fully online programmes.IGNOU has directed all eligible candidates who have not yet applied for the July 2026 session to make their applications till July 31st in order to get admitted to their chosen programmes.
Undergraduate programmes offered
A wide range of undergraduate programmes are available for the July 2026 session at IGNOU. Some of the undergraduate programmes include Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). The University is also offering a number of honours and specialized undergraduate programmes.The flexibility of the learning system enables candidates to do their studies along with work.
Postgraduate courses available across disciplines
Among some well-known courses at the postgraduate level, there are a number of programmes being offered by IGNOU at present, which include MBA, MA in many specializations, MCA and M.Com.These courses are aimed at offering advanced academic knowledge without compromising on the flexibility that has been a major strength of IGNOU.
Diploma and certificate programmes focus on skills
In addition to degree programs, there are also programs being offered by the university that are meant for diplomas, advanced certificates, and certificates.There are several areas in which these programs can be undertaken, such as information technology, management, languages, and environment, among others.

It is estimated that the extension of the deadline will help many aspirants who might have been unable to adhere to the initial deadline owing to personal, academic or professional commitments.
