Millie Bobby Brown gets candid about life as a child actor and the criticism it brings
Millie Bobby Brown laid it all out while featuring on the latest episode of Jay Shetty’s ‘On Purpose’ podcast. Talking to Shetty, the ‘Enola Holmes 3’ actress dived into her past and revealed key details that hindered her growth as a child actress. She commented, “The things that didn’t help me, my goodness. I would say public perception doesn’t help. Growing up hearing the way people think about you constantly.” She also shared how often people criticised and called out the way she looked, regardless of what she was wearing.Providing more details, she added, “I think I was 15 when people started saying I looked like a 60-year-old woman…I would wear a big heel, and people would say, my goodness, who does she think she is? But then I would wear a suit, and people would rip me apart for looking too old. I’ve realised, [the haters are] all just walking contradictions. None of you actually have an opinion. You’re all kind of like robots.”Brown further concluded that all of her experiences growing up in the industry taught her a great deal about life and everything that comes with the glamour. She shared that she has made it her life’s “mission” to ensure that young children in the industry are protected at all costs.
Millie Bobby Brown has commented about criticism against her clothes and looks multiple times
Over the years, the ‘Electric State’ actress has time and again stood up for herself against online bullies and negative critics about her outfit, her looks, and comments about how she looks “too old” for her age. Back in September 2022, while talking to Allure, the actress shared how hard it is to be constantly hated upon. She added at the time that, “It’s really hard to be hated on when you don’t know who you are yet. Then you just start shutting down because you’re like, ‘Who am I meant to be? Who do they need me to be for them?’” Last year as well, after she drew criticism for looking old in a selfie where she had pursed her lips while posing with a floral dress and a luxury bag, the actress had shared a follow-up post on Instagram and had commented, “Women grow!! Not sorry about it.”On the work front, Brown recently appeared in ‘Enola Holmes 3’, which explored a new dynamic in her life as Sherlock Holmes’ sister. While all set and ready to get married, Enola is thrust back into a game of cat and mouse as she must race against time to save her brother, who has been kidnapped and left behind only a notebook with cryptic letters as a clue.
