When Anne Hathaway gave an empowering message on motherhood and post-birth weight loss
In an old Instagram post addressing her fans and netizens, the famed ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress advocated for embracing weight gain and all body types. She posted a photo of herself wearing denim overalls and added a caption that read, “There is no shame in gaining weight during pregnancy (or ever). There is no shame if it takes longer than you think it will to lose the weight (if you want to lose it at all).”Talking about how it is natural for bodies to change and grow, she added, “There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs. Bodies change. Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise)”The post was shared on her social media account only a few months after giving birth to her and Adam Shulman’s first son, Jonathan Rosebanks. That year, she also appeared on the ‘Ellen DeGeneres Show’, where she opened up about how she herself has newfound confidence and appreciation for her curves. She said during the interview, “If somebody says, ‘I had a baby 13 years ago,’ you say, ‘You look great.’ That’s what you do. That is the etiquette. So I say to this guy, ‘I had a baby seven weeks ago.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, trying to lose the baby weight?’” She also shared that at first, when she started going to the gym after giving birth, she felt quite awkward about the entire thing; however, she was able to overcome all of that. She added at the time, “I walk in, I’m like, ‘Yeah, I work out with 5 lb. weights, but I pushed a baby out of my body, I feel good right now.’”
