One of Bollywood’s most iconic films, Lagaan, is all set to complete 25 years on June 15. To celebrate the milestone, Aamir Khan and director Ashutosh Gowariker reunited with the cast and crew of the Oscar-nominated classic at a grand gathering in Mumbai on Saturday. While the evening was filled with nostalgia and memorable reunions, it was Salman Khan’s striking new look that became one of the biggest talking points of the event.Salman Khan turned heads with his rugged new avatar, featuring closely cropped hair and a trimmed beard that reminded fans of his Tere Naam look. Dressed in a black leather jacket, tank top, distressed denims and boots, the superstar exuded effortless swag at the Lagaan 25 celebrations.
Aamir and Salman share a warm moment
As soon as Salman arrived, he was warmly welcomed by Aamir Khan. The two superstars greeted each other with a hug, exchanged smiles and happily posed for photographers. Their camaraderie delighted fans, who continue to cherish their on-screen chemistry in the cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. Even decades after the film’s release, the duo’s friendship remains a crowd favourite.The celebrations also saw Kareena Kapoor Khan making a graceful appearance. The actress looked radiant in a blush pink traditional outfit with intricate gold accents. Paired with emerald-toned earrings, bangles and a sleek bun, the actress effortlessly blended sophistication with festive charm.
A star-studded guest list
The celebration witnessed a host of Bollywood personalities coming together to honour the legacy of Lagaan. Among those spotted at the event were Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta, Sophie Choudry, Vir Das, Sunil Grover, Zoya Akhtar and Shenaz Treasury.Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan was also present for the celebrations, while actor Imran Khan arrived with his girlfriend Lekha Washington. Aamir’s sisters, Nikhat Khan and Farhat Khan, were also seen attending the special evening, making it a memorable reunion for the Khan family.
Several members of the Lagaan cast, including Rajendranath Zutshi, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Lakhia and Akhilendra Mishra, were present. Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowariker and his wife Sunita Gowariker also joined the celebrations.Released in 2001, Lagaan remains one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated films. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and headlined by Aamir Khan, the period sports drama earned international acclaim and became India’s third film to receive an Academy Award nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
A family affair for Aamir Khan
Beyond the star-studded guest list, the evening also turned into a family affair for Aamir Khan. The actor attended the event with his girlfriend Gauri Spratt, with the couple arriving hand-in-hand and posing together for the paparazzi.Kiran Rao also joined the celebrations with their son Azad Rao Khan. Meanwhile, Aamir’s former wife Reena Dutta attended the festivities on Friday along with daughter Ira Khan and son-in-law Nupur Shikhare. Reena played a significant role in Lagaan as its executive producer and has often been credited for supporting the ambitious project.Aamir was previously married to Reena Dutta from 1986 to 2002, with whom he shares two children, Ira and Junaid. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, and the two amicably separated in 2021. They continue to co-parent their son Azad.
