NEW DELHI: General Upendra Dwivedi has unveiled Indian Army Strategic Guidelines 2047, a key document that has been framed to guide the transformation of the Army into a future-ready force. It has been drawn from the framework of Defence Forces Vision 2047.“The seminal document translates strategic intent into coherent, actionable Lines of Effort for the Indian Army, as it transforms into a future-ready force, with capabilities and actions aligned to the Vision of Viksit Bharat 2047,” Additional Directorate General of Public Information of the Army posted on X on Friday.The strategic guidelines 2047 lay down a detailed roadmap for capability development, force modernisation, organisational transformation and operational preparedness, ensuring the Indian Army is able to address emerging security challenges in an increasingly complex strategic environment.Document seeks to provide a clear strategic direction to ensure the Army remains agile, adaptable and capable of operating effectively across the full spectrum of future conflicts and security challenges. It will serve as a key reference for future planning and decision-making across the Army, driving reforms in areas like technology absorption, multi-domain operations, force restructuring, HRD and combat readiness.Defence Forces Vision 2047, from which the guidelines have been framed, says the “central pillar of the vision is the emphasis on jointness and synergy among the services, promoting greater coordination in planning, operations & capability development”. Vision 2047 also highlights the importance of innovation, advanced technologies and a modern training framework to build a force that is adaptable to future warfare challenges.Another key focus area in the vision is Aatmanirbharta in defence, encouraging development & adoption of indigenous technologies and solutions tailored to the country’s unique security requirements. Strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and technological capabilities is expected to enhance operational readiness while contributing to national growth.
