SSB recruitment 2026: The Sashastra Seema Bal has issued a short notification announcing 1060 vacancies for Constable and Head Constable posts. The notification appeared in the Employment Newspaper, outlining recruitment across multiple trades under the Central Armed Police Forces.According to the announcement, the detailed notification will be released on the official website, ssb.gov.in. Vacancy distribution across trades and postsOut of the total vacancies, 827 are for Constable posts, and 233 are for Head Constable posts. Constable vacancies are in different trades such as Driver, Veterinary, Gardener, Washerman, Tailor, Barber, Carpenter, and many more. Out of these Constable posts, 553 are Driver posts, and the candidates applying for Driver posts must be male. The Constable posts are distributed over UR, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST. Out of the total Constable posts, 383 are UR, 64 are EWS, 191 are OBC, 128 are SC, and 61 are ST. The recruitment of Head Constables is in different trades such as Communication, Electrician, Steward, and Veterinary. Out of these posts, 197 are Communication posts, and 29 are Electrician posts. Eligibility criteria and application processCandidates applying for Head Constable posts must possess a 10+2 qualification, while Constable applicants are required to have passed Class 10. Age limits vary by role, generally ranging between 18 and 27 years depending on the trade.Specific technical qualifications are required for certain posts. For instance, Communication roles require a science background along with relevant diplomas, while Electrician posts require ITI certification. Driver applicants must hold a valid Heavy Motor Vehicle licence.The application fee is set at Rs. 100 for General, OBC and EWS candidates. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and female candidates are exempted from paying the fee. Payments can be made through online modes including debit card, credit card, net banking and UPI.Stages of Selection and the Recruitment ProcessThe selection process has various stages, starting with the Physical Efficiency Test and the Physical Standard Test. Then, the candidates are subjected to a written test, and for certain posts, typing or skill tests are also conducted.Document verification and detailed medical examinations are the final steps in the recruitment process. The typing speed for certain posts is also required, which should be 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi.
